MyBucks Banking Corporation has made a sponsorship towards the Institute of chartered accountants in Malawi (ICAM) conference with MWK1,000,000.

The conference will take place from 12th to 14th November 2020 under the theme; Prudent Financial Management- Key to business resilience in the midst of COVID-19.

Speaking during the symbolic presentation, Chief Finance Officer for MyBucks, Thomson Kumwenda said the bank was pleased to make this sponsorship to ICAM, owing to the crucial role that accountants board plays in the country’s economy through helping out in setting standard accounting practices for organizations.

Kumwenda also commended ICAM for the chosen theme which he said was indeed a right discussion to be having considering the current times that the world is going through with the Covid-19 pandemic which has seen a range of changes in different sectors financially. “As a good corporate citizen that believes in partnerships and contributing towards making a positive social impact in the environment that we operate in, we saw it necessary to make this sponsorship as this conference will act as a springboard from which innovative ideas will sprout from- ideas that will set the right foundation for best practices to be adopted in this highly volatile environment where adaptability is the key narrative”.

In his acceptance speech, ICAM CEO, Francis Gondwe said “The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malawi (ICAM) is pleased with the K1 million it has received from MyBucks towards the hosting of the 2020 ICAM Annual Lakeshore Conference. It is also good to put it on record that this is not the first time that MyBucks has extended this gesture to ICAM. Last year MyBucks also partnered us when we were hosting the lakeshore conference. Getting this support at this moment when economies have been ransacked by the effects of COVID 19 is rare and we are thankful to the bank for this great consideration”.

The 2020 ICAM lakeshore conference takes place from 12 to 14 November 2020 and will be opened by the Minister of Finance, Hon. Felix Mlusu. Around 700 delegates are expected to attend the conference. Nevertheless, COVID 19 preventive measures will earnestly be adhered to.

Among the array of speaker at the conference will be a motivational and leadership speaker Stef du Plessis from South Africa. Local speakers comprise of MyBucks’ Managing Director, Zandile Shaba, Madalo Mwenelupembe, Edith Jiya, Emmanuel Chokani, Simon Itaye, John Kamanga and Lusayo Biswick.
